Change points in the statistical measures in the K/Zr record from CHB cores were determined to structure the long CHB-14-2 K/Zr record using the MATLAB-based function <t>findchangepts</t> contained in the MATLAB Signal Processing Toolbox. We run findchangepts for the arithmetic mean (Supplementary Fig. ), standard deviation (Supplementary Fig. ) and trend (Supplementary Fig. ) for a maximum of five important changes. All change points were applied to the CHB14-2 K/Zr time series, dividing the record into 13 episodes.
